In the last few years, Uganda has seen a rise in the number of Universities in the country. This is underscored by the increasing number of students that qualify for University entrance.

Makerere University the oldest and biggest University has had its intake increased by 2,000 students.

Makerere University is Uganda's leading institution of higher learning and offers awards at the Degree, Masters and Doctorate levels, providing professionals in various disciplines.

In place to support the study programmes are scientific laboratories in related fields, library facilities, research facilities, scientific equipment, computer facilities and skilled manpower. The university also offers a number of non-professional courses in both the arts and sciences.
