Sir James Ronald Leslie Macdonald(1862-1927),
He was the second Commissioner and third Britis rule representative in Uganda from May 1893 - Nov 1893.

Sir James Ronald Macdonald joined the Royal Engineers in1882 and was deployed on the Hazara expedition, North West Frontier, India in1888. He was the Chief Engineer of the Preliminary Survey of Uganda Railways between 1891-1892. He became acting Commissioner, Uganda Protectorate in1893 and later became Commander of operations against rebels in Uganda in 1893. He became Chief Staff Officer of the Unyoro expedition, Uganda in 1893-1894. He was Commander of operations in Uganda, including action of Lubwa's Hill, siege of Lubwa's Fort and engagements at Kizalera and Kijembo in 1897-1898.

He write a book; Soldiering and surveying in British East Africa, 1891-1894 (E Arnold, London, 1897)
